Just Reduced! Wow! Rare CHUCK JONES Original Hand Painted Production Animation Set Up (2 layer) Cel of “Bugs Bunny at Piano” from the Warner’s Brothers, 1976 Chuck Jones “Bugs and Daffy’s Carnival of Animals”. Production # Marks on Cel are partially covered by matte & layered making them tough to read, but Numbers Appear to be J4 F7 & J4 H32 we think. Nicely Matted with Chuck Jones Production, Warner Bros Inc. Official Stamp & COA, From a Large Private Collection of Chuck Jones’ Production Cel WorksMatte is 20″ W x 16″ H, Visible Cel area is Approx 12.25″ W x 10.125″ H Note: We will be listing many other original production cels from this film with Bugs at piano (piano not pictured), some in sequence with this, some not, they will be listed as quickly as we can get to them. We also have many other Chuck Jones cels from other films listed and coming as well. This sharp hand painted 2 layer Original Animation Production 12 Field Model Cel from Chuck Jones Production features Bugs Bunny at the piano (piano not pictured) from the made for TV short “Bugs and Daffy’s Carnival of Animals” released in 1976 with art from Chuck Jones & writers Chuck Jones & Ogden Nash (Poems). Yet another classic film by Jones. This cel scene is from one of many musical scenes from the film with Bugs at the piano in musical play. This film was made in association with Warner Brothers of course, but produced during a very prolific period for Chuck Jones during the mid 1970’s. He made a number of TV specials during this era including others such as three made for TV films by Jones from “The Jungle Book”. “The White Seal” 1975 & “Mowgli’s Brothers” 1976 & Rikki Tikki Tavi 1975. He also did “A Cricket in Times Square” & it’s sequel, “Yankee Doodle Cricket” & more. We have cels listed or to be listed from those films as well. There will also be other Warner Brother’s cels with Bugs Bunny, Wile E. Coyote & more. These authentic cels are getting tougher to find as time goes by due to growing collector interest in this collecting genre & hobby. The cel, matte & background board are in very good to excellent condition, but not quite mint (not that any cels are). There are some minor light scratches on outer surface of cel, but the piece maintains a great display pop as shown. The layer beneath outer cel layer is likely even more pristine having been protected by the surface layer, but no way to know for sure. Please review all pictures taken to assist you with determining condition & use zoom feature if needed, but it looks terrific. This is firmly matted & suitable for framing if you choose. The last picture in gallery kind of highlights the artwork by catching the drawn outline on outer surface, the inner surface of layers are painted. This is a rare cel, being a 2 layer set up cel. Frankly, we acquired a number of these layered cels and are honored to offer them. There have been many standard single layer cels sold over the years on eBay, but not many (if any) multi layered ones (or they were not identified as such in listings) that we could find going back 20 plus years. The background color is on the matting board. We are pricing this well under what we feel is a fair value given it’s appeal & rarity and below most listed or sold of this quality. Prices on these authentic pieces can sometimes go to more than double our listing price, but we encourage buyers to do their own research on such and not rely on our opinion. The collector we acquired this work from had literally hundreds of rare production cel pieces from various works by Jones, many in consecutive series, which we have personally not seen much outside of a studio sale 20 years ago perhaps. This has a Chuck Jones Production mark on lower left of cel & a standard COA Paper that came with this when purchased. This are nicely matted & shows slots in matte at bottom from production, which we actually prefer as well as series #’s from the film. Chuck Jones (Sept 21, 1912 – Feb 22, 2002) is among the elite of the elite cartoon artists & film innovators in history. If you are looking at this listing, you likely already know this. In his extensive career he created such characters as the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Pepe LePew, & Marvin the Martian (and others) as well as helping refine the characters of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig & more along the way. Each of these hand painted cels are from an animation artist’s hand & a part of cartoon film history. We feel the collecting of Authentic Animation Art is truly one of the neatest collectible genres. Not only do you get a piece of a gifted artist’s work, each piece is part of a living history of the movies and films they were used in & they make exceptional display items. It’s a bit like owning a World Series game used bat from a baseball player, at least we feel that way. But in this case the World Series never ends as the cartoons keep playing and playing. We have dozens of these original Chuck Jones Animation Cels coming to market in next few weeks.
